The Look
I still remember that look
Peering at you over the book
We were supposed to study
It dawned you were more than a buddy
I still feel that goose-bump
And the throat forming a lump
When that day out of a maddening crowd
Your eyes chose to make me proud
Hand-in-hand we walked
Day and night we talked
But it was still your eyes which I heard say
It all in black and white, they removed all gray
When we were to part the next morrow
Your first look I wanted to borrow
That, I knew would get me through
The pain, the suffering and the sorrow
Years may pass in the blink of an eye
When the distance starts causing a big why
When all we're trying to do is try
The memory of your first look makes the moment pass by
Peering at you over the book
We were supposed to study
It dawned you were more than a buddy
I still feel that goose-bump
And the throat forming a lump
When that day out of a maddening crowd
Your eyes chose to make me proud
Hand-in-hand we walked
Day and night we talked
But it was still your eyes which I heard say
It all in black and white, they removed all gray
When we were to part the next morrow
Your first look I wanted to borrow
That, I knew would get me through
The pain, the suffering and the sorrow
Years may pass in the blink of an eye
When the distance starts causing a big why
When all we're trying to do is try
The memory of your first look makes the moment pass by
Nicely written!!
