The Dawn of the Week

Well, a new week dawns...And with an imminent night out (for no particular reason). The new background on my desktop reminded me of the two times I stayed up just to catch the first rays of sunlight. To start off, the sight of a sunrise is just MAGICAL, and there is no way it can EVER be described in words, but the description of the experience is so that the people reading this, also experience this once. It all starts with a speck in the sky, and the way it slowly spreads in the darksky - is truly one of the most picturesque sights. More specifically, the way a single spot of red in an otherwise deep blue sky - first appears as a spot, and then becomes a kaleidoscope of different colours is one of the most phenomenal sights that I have ever seen. The most amazing thing is that you cannot comprehend it by watching continuously; its only afters you have taken your eyes off for a moment, and then refocus that you realize that the colours spread. One of the greatest examples of 'infinitesimally small', I feel that the sunrise could be used to practically understand the fundamentals of calculus! The set of pictures above are from a sunrise at Pondicherry. My favourite and most magical sunrise, however was on the bridge of river Cauvery. The misty river bed, and a train chugging in the foreground with the magical spread of hues - it was a heart stopping, exhilerating sight, to say the least. The sunrise also made me draw a parallel with the raags which are for the morning. The way each tone blends with the next, just like the frame by frame of how the colours spread in the sky makes me think how music and art are same!

Oh, for the morning sky!
